Registration FAQs

General

Cannexus will take place Jan. 23-25, 2023, both virtually and in Ottawa, Canada. The virtual and in-person portions are essentially separate events with different sessions taking place within the greater whole of the hybrid umbrella.

Although the virtual and in-person portions of Cannexus are mostly separate, there are sessions that act as bridges between the virtual and in-person experiences. Keynotes, select Around the World sessions, and the Spark! TED-style talks will all be shown in both the virtual and in-person event at the same time. Virtual and in-person attendees can engage with each other through the chat.

During the in-person conference, in-person attendees will not be able to view the virtual sessions. However, when the conference is over (after Jan. 25), all in-person attendees will be able to access the full virtual conference platform to watch the virtual recorded sessions for six months.

In-person sessions will not be recorded or available to virtual attendees.

We are planning a hybrid program that makes the most of each format – with the in-person portion featuring consultation on big-picture themes of organizational, sectoral and economic change – and the virtual portion focusing on skill-building webinar and meeting-style presentations.

Many of you have missed connecting face-to-face with colleagues. At the same time, we’ve all come to appreciate the convenience of virtual events. No matter how you participate, Cannexus will provide an accessible, content-rich and value-packed opportunity for Canada’s career development communities to convene, share and learn.

Check out the  Cannexus Schedule  for both the in-person and virtual portions. The full program will be available by the end of September with 150+ sessions.

Hallway Meetings are randomized matchmaking meetings during select Cannexus breaks. These one-on-one matchmaking sessions were open to anyone who chose to sign up for them during registration. Participants will be randomly linked to another attendee (with the same language preference) to participate in a Zoom meeting. These video-based peer-to-peer matchmaking sessions take place in one break on each live conference day in the virtual conference platform.. During a 30-minute break, participants will be matched with one other attendee.. Hallway Meetings will appear automatically in “My Agenda” and “Notifications” for the participants who signed up. Please note, if you miss your meeting, another conference attendee will be waiting for you in Zoom.

Each series of live and on-demand sessions includes sessions offered in French.

In addition, all live plenary sessions will include simultaneous interpretation in English and French and at least one live session in each block will include simultaneous interpretation (voice-over).

“As a first timer at Cannexus, I was worried about making meaningful connections. What I learned from the smaller group sessions and the larger keynote speakers is absolutely invaluable, and I was able to utilize key concepts in my practice and the day after the conference. This is a must-attend conference for any professionals in the career development field!"
