A few of us have registered to attend again this year. I chose to attend Cannexus21 as part of my PD because I really enjoyed when I attended last year for the first time.

Even though the conference is a bit different this year, I am looking forward to the learning opportunities and to hearing from other professionals.

To me, it means that Career Development is necessary for the betterment of our societies.

Participating in the Cannexus20 conference was a really great experience in terms of networking, building relationships and forming key national partnerships with other organizations outside of Winnipeg.  Now more than ever, it is crucial that organizations come together on a national level to share their knowledge and experience on how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted career development and employment in our respective regions. My goal is to leave feeling more equipped to meet the unique needs of the clients we serve.

Learning more about the varying impact that COVID-19 has had on career development and employment sectors across Canada. Furthermore, sharing best practices and learning about new service delivery models that organizations have implemented to meet the challenges brought forth by COVID-19.

To me, “Career Development for Public Good” means that career development is pertinent to everyone and is not restricted to educational institutions or employment service providers. Career development represents everyone’s personal and professional pathways, skills, experience, and potential. Through each of our unique career development journey, we contribute to a broader and more holistic society.

My past experience with Cannexus has been extremely beneficial to my career. I always leave feeling very motivated to put to use and share some of the ideas and resources learned at Cannexus with my clients and colleagues.

The shared interventions and resources from all over Canada.

I registered for the conference this year, because I have always wanted to go to Cannexus – THE conference for career development professionals, and I have not been able to attend in past years due to the costs. This year I applied for the bursary, and was excited to learn that I was accepted!

I look forward to the keynote presentation by Zabeen Hirji on the Future of Work as well as all of the professional and developmental learning opportunities through the workshops and seminars. I hope to take back new and innovative ideas and approaches that I can apply to my work and to support my clients in their career journeys. I also look forward to networking and meeting career development professionals in the Hallway Meetings.
