Yes, Cannexus22 will be virtual. While we had hoped to be able to offer a hybrid conference in 2022, we took the difficult decision in late October to shift to a fully virtual one. This decision was made with a heavy heart, knowing how much our career development community wants to be able to gather face-to-face again in Ottawa. The decision was based on a range of factors that have changed over the past few months, combined with ongoing uncertainty. We felt we needed to make the decision well in advance to allow time for in-person delegates to cancel any travel plans and in-person presenters to be integrated into the virtual program.
Although the Ontario government continues to loosen capacity restrictions, we felt we were not able to guarantee we could 1) provide equitable access to the in-person conference or 2) deliver the robust in-person Cannexus experience that people have come to expect.
Among the many considerations:
Cannexus Reflections takes place on Feb.4. This virtual day is included in your registration. It is intended to help you action what you’ve learned. There will also be a bonus fourth keynote session.
To complete your registration, payment must be received within 30 days in order to ensure the rate at the time of recording your registration. Please note, if you register on or after December 23, 2021, you will be required to pay your registration fees by credit card at the time of registration.

It remains our goal to be in a position to offer a hybrid Cannexus in future years as soon as conditions allow, bringing you the best of both worlds with virtual and in-person programming.

When you login, you will be asked to build your attendee profile. You will also be able to take a look around the platform to get yourself acclimated to the functionality.

Yes, all sessions will be recorded and will be available to registered attendees through the virtual conference platform for six months. Once you login to the platform, bookmark your unique link and save your password so you will have easy access to the recordings following the conference.
Hallway Meetings are randomized matchmaking meetings during select Cannexus breaks. These one-on-one matchmaking sessions were open to anyone who chose to sign up for them during registration. Participants will be randomly linked to another attendee (with the same language preference) to participate in a Zoom meeting. These video-based peer-to-peer matchmaking sessions take place in one break on each live conference day in the virtual conference platform. During a 30-minute break, participants will be matched with one other attendee. Hallway Meetings will appear automatically in “My Agenda” and “Notifications” for the participants who signed up. Please note, if you miss your meeting, another conference attendee will be waiting for you in Zoom.
In addition to Hallway Meetings, you can also schedule 1:1 or group video meetings with other attendees by choosing “Schedule Meeting”. Attendees who you request a meeting with will receive a notification in their personal inbox, which they can accept or decline. If they accept, the meeting will be added to your personal agendas.
There are also Meetups throughout the conference, hosted by Cannexus supporting organizations on a range of topical issues. All are welcome to join these facilitated discussions. On Tuesday, January 25, between 4:00 pm -5:00 pm ET, you can also participate in a virtual Cocktail Party, French Meetup or Student Networking.
Monday, January 24, 1:15 pm ET: CERIC will be releasing the results of its Environics National Business Survey on the state of Career Development in the Canadian Workplace, based on a survey of 500 employers.
Tuesday, January 25, 3:45 pm ET: This year during the conference we are proud to offer the powerful KAIROS Blanket Exercise, exploring the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada.
Tuesday, January 25, 3:55 pm ET: We are pleased to be honouring one of Canada’s top career development leaders with the Etta St. John Wileman Award for Lifetime Achievement immediately following the Yvonne Rodney keynote.

Yes, exhibitor hours take place during all Cannexus breaks. Additionally, at a designated time each live conference day (11:00 am ET on Monday, January 24; 2:30 pm ET on Tuesday, January 25; and 1:00 pm ET on Wednesday, January 26) you can join exhibitors for a presentation or meet and greet at their virtual booths. However, feel free to check out exhibitor booths in your off hours and request information from exhibitors. You can also schedule meetings with exhibitors at a time that is mutually agreeable.
The virtual conference platform will offer bilingual text wherever possible with some exceptions. Unfortunately, some system buttons, dates, etc. are not able to be displayed in both languages.
Each block of live and on-demand sessions includes sessions offered in French.
As well, all live plenary sessions will take place with simultaneous interpretation in English and French. Also, at least one session in each live block will be able to be viewed with interpretation (voiceover dubbing).
